Luis González Garrido & Karen Kuronuma
Luis González Garrido and Karen Kuronuma met during their studies in Paris, where they quickly developed a close artistic collaboration, leading to the formation of a duo. Shortly thereafter, they were selected by the Jeunes Talents association, with whom they gave their first concerts together and began establishing a regular presence on the French music scene.
Since then, they have performed in various festivals and cultural venues, including the Festival de Musique de La Llagonne and the Collège d’Espagne in Paris, while developing original programs that explore dialogues between different musical traditions.
From Japan to Spain
In these times of turmoil, pandemics and wars, traveling to discover new cultures and new horizons seems like a dream. With this recital, González Garrido and Kuronuma invite the audience on a journey through two cultural worlds that are different yet deeply rooted in the artists themselves: Japan and Spain. They carry the listener back to their places of origin.
The first stop of this musical journey will be Japan, where the audience can enjoy colorful traditional melodies that inspired great artists of the 20th century such as Debussy. The second and final stop will be Spain, with music from the past hundred years, strongly influenced by folklore.
In this recital, we return to the roots of these musical traditions, seeking their connection with emotion, rhythm and song — the very qualities in popular music that captivate us, and that we also find within “classical” music.
Concert duration: 60 minutes. Possibility to adapt to larger formats.
